Sound Pure's Take
The ADAM Audio A8X is the powerhouse of the classic AX-Series, bridging the gap between a precise nearfield monitor and an explosive midfield speaker. Designed for recordists and producers who want huge soundstage depth and subterranean low-end without adding a standalone subwoofer, the A8X delivers massive SPL headroom, pinpoint transient speed, and effortless clarity.
At the core of its sound is ADAM’s famous, handmade X-ART ribbon tweeter paired with a massive 8.5-inch carbon/Rohacell/glass fiber woofer. The ribbon driver pushes air with blinding speed, giving you sweet, extended top-end air out to 50kHz without inducing ear fatigue during long mixing sessions. Down low, the 8.5-inch composite woofer and dual front-firing bass ports pump out tight, punchy, distortion-free low-end down to 38Hz, making it a absolute dream for modern pop, hip-hop, electronic, and rock production.
One of the speakers in this pair has some physical blemishes that can be seen. This does not effect their operation in any way.
From ADAM Studio Monitors
The ADAM Audio A8X is the flagship nearfield/midfield studio monitor of the award-winning AX-Series. Engineered for recording, mixing, and mastering applications that demand high SPL capability, pristine high-frequency detail, and extended low-end response, the A8X bridges the gap between nearfield precision and midfield power.
The A8X features ADAM Audio's proprietary X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter, hand-crafted in Berlin. Driven by an ultra-efficient 50W A/B amplifier, the X-ART tweeter accelerates air four times faster than traditional dome tweeters, resulting in an extended frequency response up to 50kHz with pinpoint transient clarity and negligible distortion. Bass and midrange frequencies are handled by an 8.5-inch carbon fiber/Rohacell/glass fiber woofer powered by a robust 150W PWM (Class-D) amplifier. This lightweight yet extremely rigid cone structure delivers deep, tight, and punchy low-end response down to 38Hz without mid-range coloration.
To maximize low-frequency output and efficiency, the front panel incorporates dual large bass-reflex ports designed to minimize wind noise and port turbulence at high volume levels. Comprehensive rear-panel room-adaptation controls include high and low shelf filters along with a dedicated tweeter gain control, allowing seamless acoustic calibration to any control room environment.
